“I have worked with Karin for many years to create the set boards for the TV program Dit Was Het Nieuws, and I am delighted with that. Karin works independently and is creative, flexible, and pleasant during consultations. As a TV producer, I want to continue to appeal to her for the upcoming years.”

About me

I’m Karin Spijker, a scientific and medical illustrator with a background in drawing, painting, and textile design. My path has taken me from photo retouching and visual production into the specialized field of scientific illustration, where I combine accuracy, artistry, and storytelling.

After completing a Master’s in Scientific Illustration, I expanded my skills with 3D production for stills and animation. This versatility enables me to select the most suitable medium for each project, whether it is a detailed anatomical drawing, an educational medical illustration, or a concise scientific animation. My focus is always on clarity, reliability, and creating visuals that communicate complex ideas with ease.

Alongside commissioned projects, I also create independent artworks that explore themes of nature, anatomy, animals, and landscapes. These personal works keep me connected to the beauty of the natural world and enrich my practice as an illustrator.

Through both client work and personal art, my mission is to make science and nature accessible and inspiring, helping publishers, educators, and audiences see complexity in a clear and engaging way.
